User Story format

What are User Stories (descriptions)?

User stories are descriptions of “something wanted” told from the perspective of the person who desires the new functionality. It is meant to capture what the persons wants to achieve, rather than focus on how this is to be achieved. You will probably have some requirements from customers, others from different types of ordinary users etc.

The user story can be written as rich text in the  text editor, where the Who-What-Why-When format can optionally be used:

As a < type of user/person (who) >, I want < some goal (what) > so that < some reason (why) >  (before < some required date (when) >)

The “before < some required date >” part are sometimes included and will often be an exact date. This date must be written in the Required When date field and not in the User Story text field.
